How do I enroll my students?
First, download your class roster as a csv with student names and their email addresses. You may download it from your LMS system, such as Canvas. Here is the instruction for how to do that in Canvas.
Then, get in touch with us so we can programmatically create accounts for each student and send login instructions to their email addresses.
For any students that joined your class late, you can ask them to join the class on CourseAssist by sharing the course invite link, which can be found on the Class Roster page.
How to make the best use of CourseAssist AI?
Since we rely on the course material that you provide when customizing
your LLM, it is crucial that you provide us with a lot of course
materials for your course (e.g. lecture slides, notes, assignment
sheets, syllabus, example problems, textbooks, etc). Play with the
system prompt template that we provided, and make any necessary edits
based on the needs of your course. You should remind students that they
should use CourseAssist AI as a learning aid, rather than a solution
generating machine. It is best to use CourseAssist AI for explaining
concepts on lecture slides, and you can reduce the risk of “cheating” by
writing a strong system prompt. It may also be good to think about your
course structure and assignments in an age where students have access to
powerful LLMs like ChatGPT. Reducing the incidence of cheating requires
adapting your course and assignments to focus more on skills that are
hard for AI but useful for your students. For topics that require human
decision such as course logistics and policies, students should contact
you and the teaching staff instead.
How do I monitor students using CourseAssist AI?
On the Conversations page, instructors can monitor all the conversations
students have with CourseAssist AI.
How do I customize and control the bot behavior?
On the Settings page, instructors can customize the bot behavior by
crafting a system prompt for the course. We provide an initial example
for you to get started.
